Description

Pioneer Woman’s Crock Pot Cube Steak is a dish made by slow-cooking cube steak in a savory gravy until it becomes incredibly tender. Cube steak, a cut of beef that’s been tenderized, absorbs the flavors of the broth, onions, and seasonings as it cooks low and slow in the crock pot. The result is a comforting and delicious meal that’s easy to prepare and perfect for the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 cube steaks
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) of cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet of onion soup mix
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt (optional, depending on the saltiness of the soups)
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (optional, for thickening the gravy)
  • 2 tablespoons of water (for the cornstarch slurry)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Season the cube steaks with garlic powder and black pepper on both sides.
  2. Layer the Ingredients: In the crock pot, place a layer of sliced onions on the bottom. Lay the cube steaks on top of the onions.
  3. Make the Gravy: In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, onion soup mix, and beef broth. Stir until well combined.
  4. Pour the Gravy: Pour the gravy mixture over the cube steaks in the crock pot, ensuring the steaks are fully covered.
  5. Cook the Cube Steaks:
    • Low Setting: Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
    • High Setting: Cook on high for 3-4 hours. The cube steaks are done when they are fork-tender and the gravy is bubbling.
  6. Thicken the Gravy (Optional): If you prefer a thicker gravy, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the gravy during the last 30 minutes of cooking, allowing it to thicken.
  7. Serve: Serve the cube steaks hot, smothered in gravy. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Pair with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite vegetables.
