Mary Berry Green Tomato Chutney is a traditional British preserve made from green tomatoes, onions, apples, and a mix of spices. It’s a delightful combination of tangy, sweet, and spicy, perfect for pairing with cheeses, cold meats, or simply spreading on a sandwich.

- 1.5 kg green tomatoes
- 500g onions
- 500g cooking apples
- 300g raisins
- 700g granulated sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1.5 liters of malt vinegar
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground mixed spic
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Chop the green tomatoes, onions, and apples into small pieces.
- Combine in a Pot: Place all the chopped ingredients into a large pot.
- Add Remaining Ingredients: Add raisins, sugar, salt, vinegar, ginger, and mixed spice to the pot.
- Bring to a Boil: Heat the mixture on medium heat until it starts boiling.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Check Consistency: The chutney is ready when it has thickened and reduced.
- Cool and Store: Allow the chutney to cool before transferring it into sterilized jars.
