Description

Pioneer Woman Poppy Seed Chicken Casserole is a classic comfort food dish featuring shredded chicken in a creamy sauce, topped with buttery crushed crackers and poppy seeds. It’s baked to golden perfection and is ideal for a cozy family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup crushed buttery crackers (like Ritz)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix the filling: In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, onion powder, 1 teaspoon of poppy seeds, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Prepare the baking dish: Pour the chicken mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Prepare the topping: In a separate bowl, mix the crushed crackers with melted butter until evenly coated. Sprinkle the cracker mixture evenly over the chicken mixture. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds on top.
  • Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
