Description

Pioneer Woman Cranberry Sauce is a traditional holiday condiment made by simmering fresh cranberries with sugar and orange juice. It’s a quick and easy recipe that results in a thick, delicious sauce with a balance of sweetness and tartness, perfect for holiday gatherings or to use in various seasonal recipes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed, if possible)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp orange zest (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, water, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to combine.
  2. Bring to a simmer: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  3. Cook the cranberries: Let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the sauce begins to thicken.
  4. Add orange zest: Stir in the orange zest (if using) for extra citrus flavor.
  5. Adjust consistency: If the sauce is too thick, add a bit more water to reach your desired consistency. Taste and add more sugar if a sweeter sauce is preferred.
  6. Cool and serve: Remove from heat and allow the cranberry sauce to cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools. Transfer to a serving dish or jar and refrigerate if not serving immediately.
