- 1 pound ground beef

- 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bake the Tater Tots: Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the tater tots. Spread the tater tots in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake until crispy and golden brown.
- Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add Onion and Garlic: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add Beans and Tomatoes: Stir in the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Mix well.
- Season the Chili: Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and let simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Assemble the Dish: Once the tater tots are crispy, remove them from the oven. Top the tater tots with the chili mixture, spreading it evenly.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the chili.
